Timaru Sewing Centre (2005) Ltd ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Privacy Act 2020.
You're welcome to browse and buy from our website without creating an account or logging in — we only ask for the details needed to complete your order. We may offer an optional account feature in future for customers who'd like to save their details or view past orders, but this will always be optional, never required.
We use your information to process and deliver your order, respond to enquiries, provide customer service, and improve our website. We only send marketing emails to customers we've specifically added to a mailing list (for example, existing customers who've asked to be kept in the loop) — placing an order does not automatically sign you up. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
We only share personal information with service providers who need it to help us run the business — for example Stripe (payments), Google Analytics (site analytics) and couriers (delivery). Some of these providers may store or process information outside New Zealand; where they do, we only use providers that take reasonable steps to protect your information consistent with New Zealand privacy standards. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We use a strictly necessary cookie to keep track of your shopping cart, and Google Analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. If you start an order but don't complete it, we keep a temporary record of your cart for up to 7 days to make it easier to pick up where you left off, then delete it automatically. You can disable cookies in your browser, though parts of the site (such as the shopping cart) may not work properly without them.
Order and financial records are kept for at least 7 years, as required under New Zealand tax law. Other personal information is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above.
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to request that it be corrected. If we ever have a privacy breach that poses a risk of serious harm, we'll notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as required by law.
